ABOUT THE ARTISTS

BLAKE​ ​SUGARMAN​ ​(writer/performer)​ ​is​ ​a​ ​multidisciplinary​ ​artist​ ​based​ ​in​ ​Brooklyn.​ ​He finds​ ​expression​ ​as​ ​an​ ​actor,​ ​musician,​ ​poet,​ ​and​ ​activist​ ​but​ ​is​ ​best​ ​known​ ​for​ ​his unusual​ ​solo​ ​performances​ ​which​ ​have​ ​been​ ​described​ ​as​ ​“spoken​ ​word​ ​and​ ​installation art​ ​in​ ​a​ ​theatrical​ ​duet.”​​ ​​In​ ​New​ ​York,​ ​Blake’s​ ​solo​ ​work​ ​has​ ​been​ ​presented​ ​at​ ​The​ ​Brick (Resident​ ​Artist​ ​Series),​ ​The​ ​Living​ ​Gallery,​ ​Bushwick​ ​Open​ ​Studios,​ ​and​ ​NYU’s Experimental​ ​Theatre​ ​Wing.​ ​Additional​ ​performance​ ​credits​ ​include​ ​Theater​ ​in​ ​Asylum, The​ ​Tank,​ ​Medicine​ ​Show​ ​Theatre,​ ​and​ ​FringeNYC.​ ​Blake​ ​graduated​ ​from​ ​NYU​ ​Tisch​ ​in 2014​ ​with​ ​a​ ​BFA​ ​in​ ​Theatre.​ ​He​ ​is​ ​a​ ​former​ ​Artistic​ ​Intern​ ​for​ ​The​ ​Civilians.

JACOB​ ​SEXTON​ ​(director)​ ​is​ ​a​ ​Brooklyn-based​ ​theatre​ ​director​ ​who​ ​is​ ​passionate about​ ​new​ ​plays​ ​and​ ​interdisciplinary​ ​collaborations.​ ​He​ ​has​ ​recently​ ​directed​ ​new​ ​work at​ ​Actors​ ​Theatre​ ​of​ ​Louisville,​ ​EST/Youngblood,​ ​Primary​ ​Stages,​ ​TheatreSquared’s Arkansas​ ​New​ ​Play​ ​Festival,​ ​and​ ​The​ ​Brick​ ​-​ ​where​ ​he​ ​directed​ ​Blake​ ​Sugarman’s Scream​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Butterfly​ ​in​ ​2016.​ ​Additionally​ ​he​ ​has​ ​worked​ ​in​ ​new​ ​play​ ​development with​ ​Clubbed​ ​Thumb,​ ​Playwrights​ ​Horizons,​ ​and​ ​the​ ​Humana​ ​Festival​ ​of​ ​New​ ​American Plays.​ ​Assisting​ ​credits​ ​include​ ​Anne​ ​Bogart,​ ​Les​ ​Waters,​ ​Jon​ ​Jory,​ ​Lila​ ​Neugebauer, Gia​ ​Forkais,​ ​Mortiz​ ​Von​ ​Stulpenagel;​ ​most​ ​recently​ ​he​ ​toured​ ​with​ ​SITI​ ​Company assisting​ ​on​ ​Julia​ ​Wolfe’s​ ​Steel​ ​Hammer​ ​(music​ ​performed​ ​by​ ​the​ ​Bang​ ​on​ ​a​ ​Can​ ​All Stars)​ ​which​ ​culminated​ ​at​ ​BAM​ ​Next​ ​Wave.​ ​Alumnus​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Professional​ ​Training Company​ ​at​ ​Actors​ ​Theatre​ ​of​ ​Louisville.​ ​B.A.​ ​Theatre​ ​-​ ​Directing,​ ​Fordham​ ​University. www.jacobmsexton.com

LAWRENCE​ ​SCHOBER​ ​(sound​ ​design)​ ​is​ ​a​ ​proud​ ​born-and-bred​ ​New​ ​Yorker​ ​and​ ​a sound​ ​designer​ ​for​ ​plays.​ ​He​ ​has​ ​designed​ ​for​ ​Under​ ​The​ ​Radar​ ​Festival,​ ​Baryshnikov Arts​ ​Center,​ ​EST,​ ​The​ ​Bushwick​ ​Starr,​ ​Dixon​ ​Place,​ ​The​ ​Brick,​ ​Cherry​ ​Lane​ ​Studio Theater,​ ​BRIC​ ​Arts​ ​Center,​ ​and​ ​Williamstown​ ​Theater​ ​Festival​ ​among​ ​others.​ ​His assistant​ ​design​ ​credits​ ​include​ ​La​ ​MaMa,​ ​IRT,​ ​New​ ​Ohio​ ​Theater,​ ​and​ ​MTC​ ​/​ ​City Center​ ​Stage.

LOUISA​ ​BARTA​ ​(choreography)​ ​is​ ​currently​ ​a​ ​full-time​ ​dancer​ ​with​ ​the​ ​Ellen​ ​Sinopoli Modern​ ​Dance​ ​Company​ ​in​ ​Albany,​ ​NY.​ ​​ ​In​ ​NYC,​ ​Louisa​ ​has​ ​danced​ ​and choreographed​ ​professionally​ ​with​ ​VashtiDance​ ​Company,​ ​CeDan​ ​Dance,​ ​and​ ​Callie Hatchett​ ​and​ ​Dancers.​ ​She​ ​has​ ​also​ ​performed​ ​and​ ​choreographed​ ​for​ ​festivals​ ​upstate including​ ​NACRE’s​ ​So​ ​You​ ​Think​ ​You​ ​Can​ ​Choreograph?​ ​in​ ​Saratoga​ ​and Choreography​ ​on​ ​the​ ​Edge​ ​in​ ​Woodstock.​ ​She​ ​graduated​ ​from​ ​NYU’s​ ​Tisch​ ​School​ ​of the​ ​Arts​ ​with​ ​a​ ​BFA​ ​in​ ​Dance​ ​in​ ​2013.
