La MaMa Kids: The Tale of An-Noor

By Marina Celander

a black arrow pointing downward

The Tale of An-Noor, written and performed by Marina Celander, is the tale of a magic bird who flies great distances to visit her friends the Old Tree and the Old River. An-Noor listens to her friends and they share tales of epic migrations, sorrows and loss, of overcoming huge odds, and feeling joy in everyday life at the edge of the river. An-Noor, the magic bird, guides young children at night when they can see her the best. Told through dance, puppetry and light An-Noor lets children know that there is magic all around us as long as we keep on dreaming and following the stars.

October 21 – Saturday at 11AM
La MaMa Kids Workshop

This movement oriented workshop for the young movers will focus on the community building and dance making process of every body present in the studio. We start with a warm up, to get our bodies and our minds ready, and then we let our imagination free to explore how to express ourselves with our bodies, and to tell a story. We will explore storytelling with the use props, and we will play with some of the props from the children’s show The Tale of An-Noor. No previous dance experience is needed for this creative movement workshop.
