Get On That Horse And Ride! Care Cafe- October 21

Things just keep getting worse and a lot of us seem to be waiting for some singlenational resistance organization to form or for a giant umbrella movement to tell uswhen and how to move. Mary Geddry suggests that we are waiting for the cavalry but …‘The cavalry isn’t coming. We are the cavalry!’.

She says that ‘the only way a national movement will exist is if we do things locally, NOW, in ways that are safe, visible, and relentlessly nonviolent’ and urges us ‘to build resistance where we are. and tailor it to our city, workplace, community.’

We are bringing that urgency to October’s Care Cafe. Join us on

October 21 from 5pm-7pm for the

Get on That Horse and Ride! Care Cafe

where we will be serving up some care and community but also a healthy ration of ideas and conversations on how we can all be the cavalry in our own backyards. Don’t worry if you don’t have a horse.  We will have all the materials for you to make your own!

A Care Café asks us to turn up as we are, with no specific agenda, expectation, or discussion topic, simply asking the question: How can we maintain an attitude of care in an uncaring world?

Set up like a conventional café with small tables and chairs, the Care Café acts as a temporary venue for community and conversation with some simple table activities set up within a framework of care. Just by entering the room, we acknowledge something of our own needs in the present moment and our desire to give and receive care.
