The Development Assistant is a member of the La MaMa Development team who participates in and supports all fundraising activities but is specifically focused on individual giving, including: implementing bi-annual direct mail appeals, planning and coordinating special events (particularly the annual gala), planning and coordinating stewardship/cultivation events, processing and acknowledging individual donations, maintaining individual donors’ information in AudienceView, tracking artist/audience data, and serving as a liaison for the board of directors (prepping for meetings, taking minutes, etc.). The Development Assistant also conducts prospect research as assigned, and drafts and edits institutional documents (i.e. LOIs, grant proposals, reports, acknowledgements, annual report) as needed, especially during high-volume times of year (i.e. winter and summer). They are in touch frequently with donors and board members via email/phone and serve as a concierge line for them (answering questions about shows, providing complimentary tickets, helping with box office issues) and individually contact them regarding events and programs. In addition, this position interacts with the marketing team on events and cultivation opportunities.
Experience preferred but not necessary. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in English and/or Arts/Theatre/Nonprofit Management).
