ABOUT
Take Me to Dollywood offers a full-length collage of scenes and experiments with a queer southern twang. On a porch in the south, A faceless Dolly Parton haunts the stage as characters find themselves on the edge of relationships, sexuality, and reality. A woman has eaten her hand, a sexy gummy bear awaits certain death, two men meet for a hook-up, a boss rummages through his employees’ desks, and the playwright details his sex life.
The Fool Volk is a theatre collective that creates experimental and whimsical theatre, often with audience participation, puppetry, and unique staging. Their process involves combining experimental play with classical rigor. The group believes that “silliness goes hand in hand with change” and aims to use the full potential of the theatrical medium to push boundaries. The Fool Volk incorporates elements like audience interaction, games, and physical tasks to produce a “whimsical and compelling” experience. The name reflects a belief that while clowns are motivated by self-interest, “fools” have an ambition to save the world by using their wit and empathy to highlight suffering and inspire change.
