RADICAL INDEPENDENT PERFORMANCE

The workshop will explore Lois and Peggy's unique independent performance making methodology used to identify and develop the directorial impulses in the conception, writing, producing, performing and documenting of a project. Among the processes to be explored are (ad)dressing the fantasy, telling the creative truth, collaborating with the enemy and making people laugh.

About Peggy Shaw & Lois Weaver

For the last 30 years Peggy Shaw and Lois Weaver have been developing strategies for radical independent performance making in the context of their work with their own groundbreaking company Split Britches.   They have furthered this process with collaborators such as Deb Margolin, Holly Hughes, Bloolips, Gay Sweatshop, La MaMa, People's Palace Projects, Taiwan Women's Festival and with international communities of artists, theatre students, activists, women in prisons and safe houses and residents of old age homes.
