The Jack of Tarts - A Bittersweet Musical is an audacious fairy tale set in a kingdom called Tartannia where life is centered around the consumption of irresistible tarts.  On the day of the annual Grand High Tea, a revolutionary named Agnes (Michael Lynch) endeavors to blow the house of tarts down.  The Queen of Tarts (Lance Cruce) and her tart-making son, the Jack of Tarts (Chris Tanner), feel the threat of impending rebellion.  Things get even more complicated when a brazen hemophiliac named Annabel Lee (Julie Atlas Muz) comes to town and steals the Jack’s heart.

The show features a twenty-person ensemble of singers and dancers, six musicians, one conductor and an all-original score by New Orleans native Paul Johnson, featuring fifteen songs.

The Jack of Tarts - A Bittersweet Musical is made possible with the support of La MaMa e.t.c., the Orensanz Center for the Arts, Dance Manhattan and chashama.
