“I Wanna Be Rosie”, a new work by
Bev Petty, is an impressionist portrait of America’s Sweetheart “Girl
Singer” Rosemary Clooney. This cabaret revue takes a rollercoaster
ride through Rosie’s life, which like those “fabulous fifties
tunes” hides more sensuality, sadness and shrewdness than it shows
on the surface. The laughter is real as two younger “White Christmas”
Rosies and two older “Much Wiser” Rosies meet at a party and
the pageboys and poodle skirts fly! “I Wanna Be Rosie” is a
love song for and about Rosie Clooney. A peek behind the glamour of stardom
reveals the real woman remembered as “the best friend a song ever
had.”
